Introducing LATIMER

Latimer road trips to the woods.

In addition classes where we get to field trip around London, each of us interns at least 20 hours a week at a London business. We commute, work in a British office and truly experience the "British life & culture" outside the classroom.

In this post, I'll introduce you to the incredible company I'm interning with: Latimer. In short, Latimer Group is the home of co-created media with a youth-centred focus. I work mostly with Latimer Creative Media and Latimer Inc., two of the three branches of the company. Creative Media works in the third sector with issues like domestic violence, youth violence and sexual health. Inc is the youth marketing agency.  Visit their websites to learn more. :]

In the Latimer Bunker, unwrapping new film gear for Zimbabwe.

Latimer is a fast-paced work environment. With a small team, they work on several projects at a time. For example, one week they were preparing for a TV pilot with iTV, in pre-production for a shoot with a Sony recording artist, and in post-production for Something Nice from London, a documentary filmed in Zimbabwe. Not to mention the various Creative Media videos they are writing, producing & editing at one given time.

My co-workers are the team that make it happen. They are all young, talented workers. For example, Maria, future San Franciscan & Josh(ua), playwright.

So where do I come in? As a Strat Comm intern, I write blogs & newsletters, boost websites' SEO ranking, drive traffic (feel free to click those links up there for real), manage social media, research for productions, plan events, advertise events, and much more... There are new challenges every day and there is never a dull moment - which I love! It's been rewarding to help with Latimer's work in the third sector and social issues.

And now, here are 7 anagramly-arranged bits I hope to remember from Latimer life.

L: Latimer is not pronounced Lad-ih-myrrh. It's Lah-tih-mahhhh.
A: Always wear a jumper or two. Winter lasts all spring in London. Especially in a basement.
T: Tea spills happen. Keep calm & carry on.
I: Interning with other interns is the greatest. I'll miss working with you, Michael & Nicole!
M: Make the most of every opportunity. Go all in all the time.
E: Ecco. Sandwiches.
R: (the) Revolution will be Digitised. #cocreation #latimer #always

Josh.
I'm sad to be leaving a place I spent hundreds of hours with over the past few months. I've been proud to be part of the Latimer team. Whenever I come back to London, I know it won't be the same.  I'll be a visitor. But I'll always have my time at Latimer to look back and remember life as a Londoner.

THANK YOU, LATIMER!

Cheers,
Kerri xx
